We went to Pittsburgh last week for several reasons, but the main reason was to celebrate my parents 50th Anniversary on June 19th. My parents thought it was going to be a quiet peaceful celebration with just the 4 of us. Little did they know, I had several surprises for them. Friday morning on their actual anniversary we were all relaxing just playing outside in the cul-de-sac.
The first surprise...my mom's two sisters and their husbands show up unexpectedly. One couple came all the way from SC, the other from NJ.
My mom and dad had no clue, and could not believe they came all the way to PA to celebrate the special occasion.
They opened all of their special gifts.
I found a unique gift to celebrate their 50 years of wedding bliss.
It's a storyboard of my mom and dad's lives together.
We then just relaxed, and made some s'mores...
and then the next surprise arrived. My cousin Jeff and his family drove all the way up from Virginia to surprise my parents. The girls were super excited to see their friends Rachel and Dawson.
That night we partied!
Grampy reading the girls stories before bedtime.
The next day we all headed to downtown Pittsburgh to the Science Museum.
Bart and I left the gang as my mom thought we were going to explore Pittsburgh and have a date night. Little did she know Bart and I ran all over town getting all of the goodies for the BIG surprise party we planned. Bart's truck was LOADED with all of the goodies and party supplies.
Look at that cake!
We decorated the entire church hall. We made all of the decorations as we got empty wine and beer bottles, and Bart spray painted them all gold.
We filled them with pictures from over the years.
We also filled them with white roses and had gold candy at all of the tables.
Check out this 50 I made from pictures over the last 50 years!
The happy couple 50 years ago.
Sunday my family and my parents went to church, and afterwards they thought we were meeting everyone else for a Father's Day lunch at a nearby restaurant. After church, I had two of my parents friends convince my parents to the social hall to help move some heavy items. Of course, my dad said yes....and little did they realize there was nothing to move but over 70 people to SURPRISE them!
I couldn't believe we pulled off the surprise!!!
The girls had no clue, and they were so excited to party!
My brother from VA even came in for the BIG party!
My parents very special friend Mr. Broker photobombing!
Where have the 50 years gone?
Check out the amazing gift my brother had made for my mom. She can always remember her beautiful wedding dress.
After we all ate lunch, it was time to cut the cake!
My dad's brother and sister and their husband and wife all made a special trip from West Virginia for the party. It was amazing to have so much family from far away and so many special friends celebrate such a monumental occasion.
